roys.jpg Having spent much of last season looking to the past while successfully celebrating the Clubs centenary, the time has now arrived to look to the future – and the future looks bright! Sefton are now able to field 15 teams on most weekends, including our 4 adult teams, each of which will be involved in competitive League action for the next 8 months. The first team will looking to improve on last seasons 3rd place finish to gain promotion to the 1st division, and with a squad boosted by new arrivals, and our own ‘home grown’ juniors beginning to press their claims, competition for places should be fierce. Our 2nd & 3rd teams are in the unusual position of playing in the same league – it could bring new meaning to the term ‘local derby’ when they meet each other at home. Good luck to both teams! The 4th team have already begun their first season of league Rugby in the Miller Homes Division 5 West. This is no easy mission as they will be playing other clubs 2nd and 3rd teams. Having seen them narrowly loose to a tough Wigan 3rd team I have high hopes for them! Our Junior section, the ‘Gunners’, goes from strength to strength. I would urge anyone who has never been down on a Sunday morning or Thursday evening to get down and become involved.  Skill levels and enthusiasm are a joy to behold! The Committee continues to work behind the scenes to improve our already impressive facilities. Work will commence next week on the next stage of the pitch drainage project – Sefton will deal with climate change! Finally I would ask all members to show a commitment to Sefton in both playing & training to the best of your ability. Please become involved in the running of the club – remember it is your Club!  And most of all enjoy your Rugby – that’s what it’s all about!
